Once Upon a Time at Non-Premier Event in Hannover
What is up my party people? Today, I want to talk to you about an event I played last weekend in Hannover (Germany). I hope you enjoy my experience journey from round to round with my unique Shaddoll deck. If you are interested in the decklist, at the end is a link to the deck feature on Duelrock88’s YouTube channel. Have Fun!

Round 1: Johannes Ubricht (Burning Abyss)
G1: He won the dice-roll and I had to start. It was clear soon that we both were tired and not that concentrated, because I made 2 misplays and couldn’t stand his following pressure.
G2: I had a really bad hand and thought it’s a loss, but he equaled in misplays by forgetting Scarm, Malebranche of the Burning Abyss in his end-phase, not once, but twice ;)
G3: He let me begin, and I couldn’t do much more than summon Denko Sekka and White Dragon Wyverburster in attack position with 2 Honest in hand. Luck was on my side and it was enough ;)

Round 2: Robin Bachofner (Burning Abyss)
G1: I don’t remember a lot, but I think I stole his Dante, Traveler of the Burning Abyss summoned Dark Armed Dragon and cleared the board and ended with Downerd Magician and my Dark Hero which was enough for game 1.
G2: I had OTK and he had a really bad hand.

Round 3: Lukas Calovini (Shaddoll)
G1: If one thing is clear, my opponents knew which deck I was running and I didn’t vice versa ;)
He won the dice-roll and let me start. There was nothing I could do so I end my turn without doing anything. He set a monster and passed. I drew nothing useful, set El Shaddoll Fusion with the option to Winda (with only Dark Armed Dragon and Shaddoll Dragon in hand) and hoped for no big plays from him. He flipped his set Shaddoll Hedgehog and went for El Shaddoll Fusion into Banana Split with extra chocolate sauce, but I survived! The following turns we played a tactical “Fusion – ping pong” and at the end he was +3 and I lost …
Not :)
Honest was the game breaking top-deck. It was timeout and Honest did not only won me the game it won the whole match ;)

Round 4: Merlin Schumacher (Burning Abyss)
G1: He started, I present my turn 2, Aua Aua Denko Sekka OTK Quattro Formaggi.
G2: He started, again turn 2, Aua Aua Denko Sekka OTK with extra anchovies. A quick win for me!

Round 5: Federico Zoppini (Qliphort)
G1: If I remember right, he won the dice-roll and chose to let me start. My hand with 3x Mathematician and 2x Denko Sekka was not optimal for early damage :)
It was not good enough to compete with someone who destroyed a table, so 0-1 :)
G2: I had another weak hand, but I hit the right cards with Mystical Space Typhoon and Shaddoll Dragon to take the lead in the following turn because he didn’t draw any monster.
G3: I had a present for my Italian team member, a pizza a la turkey which reduced his total life to 0 :)

Round 6: Alpay Engin (Burning Abyss)
G1: He won the dice-roll and chose to let me start (surprise, surprise), only monsters which resulted into a quick win for him.
G2: He started, special summoned Rubic, Malebranche of the Burning Abyss, I had Maxx “C”, then he tributed it for Majesty’s Fiend and set one back-row before ending his turn. I drew and in my Standby Phase he activated Vanity’s Emptiness. I had no outs, so a stone cold 2-0 ;)

Round 7: Niclas Leichnitz (Burning Abyss)
A quick & legal intentional Draw :)

Round 8: Sascha Fabian (Shaddoll)
G1: I won the dice-roll and let him start (finally). I had a real Denko Sekka OTK, so I took the first game.
G2: He let me start and equals the score in Denko-Tennis. Deuce :)
G3: It’s Time Out and I let him start. He finished his turn with Shaddoll Falco and Shaddoll Beast on the field. I checked all my options, but I couldn’t get rid of both set Shaddollcards without letting Shaddoll Construct on the field in fear of Shaddoll Fusion. If I remember right it correct, then I also had a set Shaddoll Falco, Black Luster Soldier – Envoy of the Beginning and Mathematician. Aaaand, he had Shaddoll Fusion, made some damage, used Enemy Controller on my BLS and tried to banish my Shaddoll Construct in Main Phase 2, but I had my sided Effect Veiler and that was the game-breaking moment which catapulted me into the top 16 :)

Top 16: Stefan Frankowski (Shaddoll)

Top 8: Florian Behrend (Shaddoll)
G1: He let me start and we both hadn’t a typical start for an OTK-Deck. One player drew finally the engine but it wasn’t me :)
G2: Again another really bad hand and I don´t know how, but Snatch Steal won me the game.
G3: Again I had to start and again I had a bad hand but Snatch Steal looked at me very promising. My only chance was to bluff some cards and hoped for the next turn plays with Denko Sekka and Snatch Steal.
He went for Majesty’s Fiend, Dark Armed Dragon, a set Shaddoll Beast and a few set spell/trap cards. I drew Raigeki!, normal summoned Denko Sekka, Snatch “Stole” his DAD, activated Raigeki, made 4.500 damage and started to pray. He had 3 set cards, 4 in hand, but nothing to stop Denko Sekka and his own DAD chasing his life points :)

Top 4: Luigi Alici (Qliphort)

3rd Place (Alpay Engin – Burning Abyss)
G1: This time it was a close game 1, but I still drew not that good, so he took the lead again.
G2: My opening hand was weak again but my opponent too. So I was able to equal the score.
G3: I really had everything, but he stalled with his recruiters and Phoenix Wing Wind Blast and after a few turns I couldn’t withstand his pressure with my late game draws.
