Hey guys, here is a short introduction to a new competitive deck with new cards from the latest set Duelist Alliance. Be aware of it in tournaments due to it being very easy to OTK or FTK with it and therefore you should know its strength and weakness.

Here are the most important cards, beginning with the card from the newest set which makes the deck competitive: Batteryman 9-Volt

Capture

It’s a LIGHT, Level 4, Thunder-Type monster with 1000 ATK and two really good effects: When this card is Summoned: You can add 1 “Batteryman” monster from your Deck to your hand, and if you do, this card’s ATK and DEF become double its original ATK and DEF. You can only use this effect of “Batteryman 9-Volt” once per turn. During your End Phase: Destroy this card.

So this monster usually has 2000 ATK and searches another monster from your deck to hand. It is dangerous because Batterymen can search big monsters which can be Special Summoned from hand for an OTK and for their good effects. Batteryman 9-Volt‘s effect activates even when special summoned or normal summoned.

This card mainly gets supported by the second monster, Batteryman Micro-Cell : FLIP: Special Summon 1 Level 4 or lower “Batteryman” monster from your Deck, except “Batteryman Micro-Cell”.

After this card has been flipped face-up, when it is destroyed by battle and sent to the Graveyard, draw 1 card. If it gets attacked, you can special summon 9V from deck, draw a card and then search a card. If it is flipped you will gain a 2000 attack monster and will have searched another monster for big moves. If it is not attacked, you can flip it in your turn and have already two monsters for game-ending moves.

The monster you search a lot of the time is the third one, Batteryman Charger with its effect: When this card is Normal Summoned, you can Special Summon 1 “Batteryman” monster, except “Batteryman Charger”, from your hand or Deck. This card gains 300 ATK and DEF for each Thunder-Type monster you control.

Charger enables combos, it normally specials Batteryman 9-Volt from deck and gets stronger for each Batteryman monster you control, but be careful Special Summoning 9-Volt only makes sense if you did not Normal Summon it in your turn since its effect only works once per turn.

Now we have three searchers and now we only need big monster with great effects to kill your opponent:
Capture2

Firstly the effect of Batteryman Fuel Cell: If you control 2 or more face-up “Batteryman” monsters, you can Special Summon this card from your hand. Once per turn, you can Tribute 1 other “Batteryman” monster to return 1 card your opponent controls to the owner’s hand.

So this card has 2100 ATK, you can Special Summon it easily and it bounces opponents cards if needs be. It is a really good beatstick with decent effects to get rid of problematic cards like big monsters or the last set spell or trap card. If you special summon two of these monsters you can get all the Rank 6 Monsters you want like Gauntlet Launcher against monsters or Constellar Ptolemy M7 which effect allows for other cool moves.

The last important monster is Batteryman Industrial Strength: This card cannot be Normal Summoned or Set. This card cannot be Special Summoned except by removing from play 2 “Batteryman” monsters from your Graveyard. Once per turn, you can remove from play 1 Thunder-Type monster from your Graveyard to destroy 1 monster and 1 Spell or Trap Card on the field.

This card needs at least 2 Batteryman in grave, so maybe one Batteyman Micro-Cell got destroyed, your Charger’s summon got negated or you just lost 2-3 monsters because of your opponent or because of your own effects like 9-Volt’s EOT effect, Xyz detach or Fuel Cell‘s bounce effect. Then it becomes a great card with 2600 attack and a pretty cool effect: destroy 1 monster AND 1 spell or trap. If your opponent only has a monster you can just set your own spell and trap card to destroy it along with your opponents monster, just like Scrap Dragon. But in the best/normal case you will just destroy 2 cards of your opponent.

Supporter cards for this deck are in the new set too with The Monarchs Storm Forth, you just can tribute summon the Charger you searched by tributing your opponent’s monster or if you do not have Charger and you can’t search it you can at least tribute summon Batteryman Fuel Cell.

Now we can add another engine’s, theme’s and important cards to the deck that support our strategy. I once got beaten by this deck with the Artifact Engine since it can be very aggressive and also has good card removals, it also has great synergy with Call of the Haunted this deck because of the Artifacts and the Batterymen.
