The New Forbidden & Limited List January 2014

My Predictions and Wishes to the New January 2014 Forbidden & Limited List.

Hello and Happy December to you all.

YCS Turin finished a few days ago and Christmas is coming. But not only Christmas is waiting, cue the new Forbidden & Limited List! We all already know Konami changed the Forbidden & Limited List period to three per year instead of just two. This means that our format will change at the 1st of January, the 1st of May and the 1st of September!

The change has his pros and cons in my opinion.

Pros:

Konami can more quickly react to a monotone meta like Dragon Ruler.
It is more motivating for people because you’ll have to start creating new decks 3 times per year.
A new Forbidden & Limited List keeps Yu-Gi-Oh! more interesting because it feels like a fresh push for everyone. Some people may suddenly start the game again who already quit the game.
Shops can profit from this new period too as people will start buying more cards.
Yu-Gi-Oh! players can not wait for the changes and behave almost crazy before the list is published. Now they can show such a behavior three times a year ;)

Cons:

Cue World Championships. Before, OCG and TCG had the same List. Now It is totally different. I wish, some days that the New Sets will be released everywhere on the same Date and everybody has the same Banned List. So nobody can copy builded Decks from the OCG. But this is another topic.
Everyone who spends money and time to collect expensive cards to have the highest rarity deck can be punished faster. In the past you could play at least 6 months with your cards, now it’s only 4 months.
Some people can only play their favourite decks for just 4 months. It can also be seen the other way.
You won’t always have the money to spend on new decks for every format due to the reprints.
Shops can be punished too, losing value on many cards they have in stock because of the current format.

Due to this period change, I have changed to playing my decks in the lowest rarity so I have a lower chance of being punished.
