Hi Yu-Gi-Oh! community, I’m Luca Chetoni! Are you enjoying your holidays now that all the tournament’s of the season are over?

As you know, the tournament season starts again in September with YCS Madrid in Europe and YCS Toronto in North America. However, on the August 15, there will be a new set released called Duelist Alliance. As you know, we will see a lot of new cards from this set in upcoming YCS events. Are you excited for new cards like Satellarknights, Shaddoll, Yang Zing, Superheavy Samurai, Performapal, Pendulum monsters? Today I will look at the few two I mentioned.

SATELLARKNIGHTS
Satellarknights are Level 4 LIGHT Warrior monsters that at first glance could be compared to Constellars. However, they have different monsters with more powerful effects.

This new archetype has is own Coach Soldier Wolfbark style monster, Satellarknight Altair, that Special Summon’s 1 “tellaknight” from the graveyard when it is summoned and only “tellaknights” can attack in that turn – not a big problem to make 1 XYZ for free! Satellarknights have even their own Elemental Hero Stratos called Satellarknight Deneb that when it is summoned you can add another Satellar monster from the deck to hand and another monster, Satellarknight Vega, that when it is Summoned you can Special Summon another “tellaknight” from hand.

So what can you do with so many Level 4s on field? Of course you can use those monsters for a lot of Rank 4s that already exist but Satellar has its own big Xyz monster. It’s so big that require 3 Level 4s to summon it.

Stellarknight Delteros

3 Level 4 monsters
While this card has Xyz Material, your opponent cannot activate cards or effects when you Normal or Special Summon a monster(s). Once per turn: You can detach 1 Xyz Material from this card, then target 1 card on the field; destroy it. If this card is sent from the field to the Graveyard: You can Special Summon 1 “tellarknight” monster from your hand or Deck.

So when this card is summoned your opponent can’t activate any cards like Bottomless Trap Hole or Torrential Tribute and after the summon you can detach one material to destroy one card on the field. Also if this card is sent to the graveyard, you can Special Summon 1 “tellaknight” from deck or hand so you can make a xyz next turn.

After reading all these cards what you think about Satellarknights?

SHADDOLL
Now let’s talk about Shaddoll, the archetype based on new DARK Spellcaster monsters that all have Flip Effects plus different effects when they are sent to the graveyard. Although, only one of these can be activated each turn.

Shaddoll focuses their power on the 2 new Fusion monsters, El Shaddoll Construct and El Shaddoll Winda, that you can summon with the new Shaddoll Fusion, a Spell that let’s you summon a Shaddoll Fusion monster using material from field or hand just like Polymerization, or if your opponent controls a monster Special Summoned from the Extra Deck you can Fusion Summon sending material directly from your deck! Yes! So if you are going to summon a monster from Extra Deck when you are playing vs Shaddoll, it had better be really important!

To Fusion Summon El Shaddoll Construct, you need a LIGHT monster and a Shaddoll monster. When it’s summoned you can send a Shaddoll card from deck to grave and when it battles with a Special Summoned monster, you can simply destroy it before the damage step. To Fusion Summon El Shaddoll Winda instead, you need a DARK and a Shaddoll monster. Winda can’t be destroyed by your opponent’s card effect and let players Special Summon only one monster per turn. This makes it difficult to beat this card because you can only attack it, bounce to the extra deck or banish it.

But wait, there’s more! If you are be able to overcome these 2 strong Fusions and they are sent to grave, they can add back to hand the Fusion Spell from grave to to summon these monsters again.

Not only are the Fusion monsters strong but so are the Shaddoll Effect monsters, which, like I said, all have different effects:

Shaddoll Squamata:

  • When flipped face up can destroy a monster on the field.
  • When it is send to the grave can send another Shaddoll from deck to grave.

Shaddoll Falco:

  • When flipped he can Special Summon a Shaddoll Facedown from grave
  • If he goes to grave he can Special Summon itself face down.
  • Tuner for Arcanite Magician and Generic Synchros.

Shaddoll Dragon:

  • When it is flipped face up can bounce a card from field in hand.
  • When it is sent to grave he can destroy a spell or trap.

Shaddoll Beast:

  • A Level 5 monster with a Flip effect that lets you draw 2 cards and discard one.
  • If he goes to grave you can draw 1 card.

Shaddoll Hedgehog:

  • When if is flipped face up add from deck 1 Shaddoll Spell/Trap card so you can get the fusion spell.
  • If sent to grave you can add a Shaddoll monster from Deck to Hand.

But, remember one thing! You can only active one Shaddoll effect per turn for each Shaddoll monster so if you, for example, Special Summoned Shaddoll Falco for its own effect, then you can’t active his effect to Special Summon another Shaddoll with Falco even if he is flipped face up in the same turn.

One cool play if your opponent has a monster Special Summoned from the Extra Deck enabling Shaddoll Fusion: Send Shaddoll Dragon and Shaddoll Beast to grave from deck, and then when you Special Summon El Shaddoll Winda, you also you draw one card and destroy one Spell/Trap.

As you can see, these Shaddoll monsters will give you some problem’s for sure if you are not well prepared!

I have talked about some new cards that you will find in the new set, what you guys think about all of this? Do you think these cards will have an impact on the metagame? Will you use it, or you will try to overcome this new archetype with existing decks like Mermail or Evilswarm? Let me know in the comments!

I hope you enjoyed this! See you in the next article guys!
