DN PIC SONER MAIN

First I asked myself if I want to play Maxx “C” in the Main Deck and if so, how many. I started with two but I realised that there would be too many different decks, so i cut one Maxx “C” from the Main. In my testings I noticed that I don’t have a good match-up versus Evilswarms because they have 1950 beaters which can easily destroy my Geargiarmors without making an XYZ. My Traptrix Trap Hole Nightmares were almost dead, my Dimensional Prisons were useless against Infestation Pandemic and many Evilswarms were playing double Evilswarm Exciton Knight which is really strong versus Geargia if you don’t have the right answer in the right moment.

So I decided to play two Ice and two Fire Hands in the Main Deck to improve my Evilswarm match-up. Those Hands win unwinnable games on their own versus rogue decks. Furthermore it is a surprise and your opponent would never know if I have an Armor or a Hand set. My set Ice Hand got Dark Hole’d two times and my opponent was really upset about it. There is no good reason not to play the Hands in the Main, because they are very good against most decks. But I had to cut one Geargiarsenal to keep the count ot the Monster I want to Normal Summon low. I played double Mystical Space Typhoon, Mind Control and one Soul Charge as my spells. Typhoons are really needed against rogue decks and sometimes I can even use them against HAT. I cannot understand why people play without Mystical Space Typhoons in a big Tournament. There are so many annoying cards like Kaiser Colosseum, Royal Decree, Skill Drain or Vanity’s Emptiness where Wiretap’s help is limited.

I decided against Dark Hole because I always have field presence with Armor and it is not that great versus Hands. Instead I used trap-Dark Hole, also known as Needle Ceiling, which is far better in this deck. Double Needle Ceiling won me many games against swarm decks like Mermails or even Evilswarm after I forced his Infestation Pandemics. Because I played double Needle Ceiling I decided to cut Torrential Tribute. My testings confirmed that TT was too bad of a topdeck and Needle Ceiling was also better with a set Geargiarmor. Also since I my opponent could never see a Torrential Tribute in my Graveyard, they had to play around it, not knowing it wasn’t there at all.

I also decided to play double Fiendish Chain and double Breakthrough Skill. Many people don’t like Fiendish Chain anymore but it is a solid card in general. People started to not main Mystical Space Typhoon for unknown reasons it became strong again. Also, sometimes you need to stop attacks to save your Life Points. You can also use it on Hands in emergency situations if your opponent tries to suicide them to wipe your field. It is not the best answer for Hands but better than your whole field getting destroyed. I really dislike Compulsory Evacuation Device because it is not a great trade apart XYZ Monsters but for them I already have my Traptrix Trap Hole Nightmares. The rest of my trap line engine is quite standard.

With Geargia I have a good match-up against many decks. Only Mermail and Evilswarm are harder, but not impossible to win against. For Mermail I had the big three also known as Soul Drain, Dimensional Fissure and Macro Cosmos which win some games on their own against Mermails if they don’t have the right answer on time. I also had the second Maxx “C” in the Side, but only one for space issues. Double D.D. Crow seems really standard in all Side Decks at the moment, because they are really good against Infernitys and Madolche (Madolche Hootcake). For the mirror match I didn’t have many cards in the side, only 1 Black Horn of Heaven, the third Mystical Space Typhoon and a Full House. Full House is great in the mirror because many Geargias are still playing multiple copies of Call of the Haunted and Fiendish Chain. To counter opponent’s Nobleman of Crossout I decided to put in 1 copy of My Body as a Shield, I got the idea from my teammate Federico Zoppini. It is a flexible card against many cards like Bottomless Trap Hole, Torrential Tribute, Traptrix Trap Hole Nightmare, Dark Hole and Evilswarm Exciton Knight. My last four cards were triple Skull Meister and a copy of Straight Flush to improve my HAT matchup even if though it was a solid match-up already.

With Geargia you can stall many rounds with Geargiarmor so your HAT opponent will have five backrows and you can activate Straight Flush in his End Phase and blow his whole backrows up at once. Be sure you have a Wiretap beside your Straight Flush to resolve your Straight Flush even if your opponent tries to Wiretap your Straight Flush.

The Skull Meisters are better than Debunk in Geargia because you don’t need to negate hand traps like Maxx “C” or Effect Veiler. Smart people won’t side those hand traps against Geargia. So if you only need to negate the graveyard effects you will play Skull Meister because it’s faster (you do not have to set it first like Debunk), it’s a Level 4 Monster with solid 1700 attack points so you can even use it as an XYZ-material or as a beatstick if needed. It is also immune to your opponent’s Wiretaps, Ignitions and MSTs.
I also side double Skull Meister versus Bujins so I could crush my Hands into my opponent’s Bujin Yamato if he has a Bujingi Turtle I can negate it with my Skull Meister!

DN SOner Extra

My Extra Deck is pretty standard. The Number 106: Giant Hand, which I borrowed from my buddy and current Turkish Champion Umut Serin, was quite important. It won me two games against Evilswarm and Madolche. It saved my big field against potential topdecks like Evilswarm Kerykeion and Madolche Anjelly/Madolche Hootcake. Without the Number 106: Giant Hand I would have lost at least two more duels. The space in my extra was really tight, there are so many great cards that I would like to play like Number 80: Rhapsody in Berserk, Gagaga Cowboy, Number 82: Heartlandraco and Diamond Dire Wolf. In the end I was pretty satisfied with my Extra Deck choices; I summoned all of them. Temtempo the Percussion Djinn was really helpful. One game I really needed a Cowboy to win but those things happen, you don’t have endless space in the Extra and you have to make some cuts.
